STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® was born to standardize the international differences in the assessment of the harmful substances used in the textile industry to identify and eliminate them at each stage of the production chain. This certification guarantees the human-ecological safety of textile products and the harmlessness of human health by placing it as an effective consumer tool in its purchasing choices as synonymous of high product safety.
The list of requirements for certification of STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® includes several hundred regulated substances and covers:
- Important legal regulations such as azo dyes, formaldehyde, pentachlorophenol, cadmium nickel, etc.
- Numerous chemicals that are hazardous to health, although not yet regulated by law.
- The requirements of Annexes XVII and XIV of the European Chemicals Regulation REACh and of the ECHA List of SVHC candidate substances, if these are relevant to textile products and clothing or accessories as assessed by the OEKO-TEX® Expert Group. Following discussions and developments considered relevant, the requirements of STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® are updated as quickly and effectively as possible.
