Wool & Silk
From the mix of organic wool fibers for 70% and silk for 30%, a particularly pleasant fabric for the skin is born, for this reason it is used to make precious underwear. The characteristics of organic and natural wool are therefore combined with those of silk. In fact, the silk has unique characteristics and is unsurpassed in terms of softness and to the touch it is extremely pleasant even to people who are more sensitive to wool and can wear this fabric without problems.
Silk has very ancient origins, in China as early as 3000 BC. it was used to make garments for emperors. For a long time the Chinese emperors kept the origin of this yarn secret. Already in the twelfth century Italy was the largest producer of European silk. During the period of sharecropping almost all the peasant families raised silkworms to gather some money. The women and children took care of the bugs that required a lot of care and attention, in fact the bugs were placed on racks and occupied the best living areas free of humidity. In order to hatch the eggs, the women kept them warm in contact with their breasts. Once they had hatched, they began to collect the mulberry leaves of which they nourish and the constant cleaning of the litter. With the industrial development of the 60s, silkworm breeding disappeared from our countryside, failing to compete with the manufacture of synthetic fabrics.
