Eucalyptus is an evergreen plant native to the ocean that in favorable conditions can reach 90 meters in height, grows very quickly and does not require special care for its cultivation. All of us know its particular balsamic characteristics, in fact the leaves and the essential oil obtained from this plant are widely used for the production of anti-flu remedies.

Few instead know the fiber that can be obtained. The eucalyptus fiber (Tencel® Lyocell Eucalyptus) is obtained by reducing the eucalyptus wood to a pulp. This is made to spin through the nozzles thus obtaining a thin and light yarn. Although the eucalyptus fiber is an artificial fiber in its production no toxic solvents are used and is thus completely biodegradable. In fact it is a closed loop viscose where the used products are recovered and reused. In 2000 the European Union awarded the Lyocel working process with the Environmetal Award in the "technology for sustainable development" category. The Lyoncell uses trees from forests managed with environmental standards of the FSC brand and also the fiber has obtained quality recognition from the PEFC (Pan-European Forest Council). In fact it is the most environmentally friendly artificial fiber in circulation.

Eucalyptus fiber is silky, transpiring, gentle on the skin, hygienic, antibacterial and absorbs excess moisture; thanks to all these features it deserves to be widespread.
